Massage

The skins natural functions will be stimulated improving the condition of the skin and the warmth created will help relax the body physically and mentally. Swedish Body Massage is the original massage technique involving a sequence of movements working superficially and deeper into the tissue layers. Movements such as effleurage work over the skin with the palm of the hand producing relaxation, whereas movements like petrissage work deeply. Petrissage movements such as wringing and kneading will help to relieve tension promoting deep relaxation in the tissues and muscles. The client is covered in soft towels, which are turned back to reveal only the area to be massaged at that time. Areas massaged in a Full Body Massage are normally the back, legs back & front, feet, neck. Stomach & arms are optional. These can be changed to suit the clients requirements.

This form of massage is used to treat a wide range of conditions including stress, insomnia, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, diabetes, muscle spasms and general aches and pains. Massage relieves the symptons of stiff, tired joints, speeds up digestion, and encourages circulation.

Massage can be especially helpful with the problems people experience when they grow older. A more gentle massage is given and even very frail clients can benefit just as much from a hand, foot or face massage as they might from an all over body massage.

Hot Stone Massage

A deeply relaxing massage with the use of warm Basalt Stones. The placing of the stones on the body, is followed by a massage which is deeper and more intense as heat penetrates the body and relaxes the muscles. In certain cases, cold stones can also be used to help muscular injury and inflammation.

If you feel sluggish, it invigorates
If you're unhealthy, it will help your body to regain it's strength
If you're feeling down, it will bring you back up

Sports Massage

Aims to improve the suppleness and flexibility of muscles and joints, improve blood circulation, speed up the healing of damaged or stressed muscles, tissues and joints, and prevent future muscle and tendon injuries.

A sports massage can be carried out prior to a sports event, when it will stimulate circulation, calm nervous tension and prepare the individual for optimal performance whilst at the same time reducing the risk of injury. It can be carried out after a sports event, when it will relieve soreness and assist with the removal of lactic acid and other waste products. It is often used during training, when I can focus on speeding up the healing of existing injuries and prevent the development of future injuries. It reduces strain and discomfort caused by training or taking part in sport, and encourages the body to heal and repair any injuries sustained.

Reflexology

Uses light pressure to massage each of the points in the toes, feet and ankles to release tension, remove energy blockages, disperse accumulations of calcium and uric acid, stimulate blood circulation and promote healing of both body and mind. Gentle pressure applied to each pressure point and , where there are corresponding physical problems, the client may experience some slight discomfort and/or I may feel some blockages in the area.

Generally, most clients report that a Reflexology treatment is wonderfully relaxing and soothing, and some people fall asleep. In most cases a series of sessions are necessary to resolve any problems. Reflexology can be used to treat a wide range of disorders including skin and respirtory conditions, migraine, PMS and menopausal problems, chronic fatigue, stress, depression and anxiety. Also to help with conditions such as eczema, bronchitis and insomnia.

Ear candles

Quite different from conventional wax candles, a Hopi ear candle is actually a cotton tube, impregnated with beeswax, honey and therapeutic oils, that is painlessly inserted into the ear to draw out impurities, relieve the pressure in the head and sinuses and aid hearing problems. The candle generates a pleasant crackling sound and a warm, comfortable feeling while it draws out the impurities from the ear. After around ten minutes the process is repeated in the other ear. This is followed by a facial massage concentrating on the sinus areas. Users of Hopi ear candles have reported success in treating balance and inner ear problems, build of wax, ringing in the ears, tinnitus, hearing difficulties and sinus problems. As well as colds, flu, sore throats, stress, headaches and migraines.

The treatment is suitable for children and is a good alternative for people who find syringing uncomfortable.
